Fishermen of Pandavaoura Village

Text & Photography ©Nayan Sthankiya

Every morning and evening 6 days a week Indian fisherman ply the waters of lake Thonnur in the village of Pandavaoura, 30kms outside Mysore. Like generations before they use theppas's, round circular boats, starting at dawn they bring in the catch from nets cast the previous evening. Spending roughly 3 hours on the water returning to shore and selling the mornings catch to the waiting locals.
